It's funny how something as simple as a piece of wood and paper can have so many different meanings to so many different people. To some, it is about drawing images and writing lyrics, and to others it is about creating stories. To me, however, it is an escape from reality and into my own personal world that I crafted myself.
My writing journey has always been a task that I enjoyed doing, for I have always found that artworks of all sorts were beautiful, and even more so when I was the one doing the creating. Although I have noticed that as I get older, writing is not as free-willed as it used to be, I still find myself getting lost in a good paper and adding my own creative elements to text-based prompts. My drive to develop as a student and writer has lead to me forming my own goals so I can continue to progress academically throughout my years.
One goal I would like to achieve is to expand my vocabulary in my work so I sound more professional and intellectual when presenting ideas and arguments. I will do this by using a thesaurus as frequently as possible and staying away from "dead words". In other words, words that are overused or lack emotion.
Another goal I have set for myself is to drift away from using basic evidence as support and sentence starters, for I have found that teachers get bored from reading the same papers over and over again. If I were to go under the surface with my supporting quotes and rephrase words so they sound more collegiate, it would allow my writing to stand out from the rest.
